- There are 57 historic family crypts in the so-called "Gewannen B and C", along Gruftweg ("Crypt Lane") at the Hauptfriedhof in Frankfurt/Main. They are of historic significance and are owned by the respective families or their descendents. Therefore the otherwise typical limit of repose for German cemeteries of 20-30 years does not apply.

- Between 1966 and 1986 the remains of about 150 American children, most but not all of them stillborn or newborn, were buried in the Hauptfriedhof (main cemetery) in Frankfurt, Germany. A white marble monument reads in English "American Children's Cemetery" and in German "Amerikanisches Kinderfeld". This cemetery was often called the Kinderfeld or Kinderfield by the Americans and Germans who jointly maintained it. (The future of its maintenance is somewhat uncertain now that there are almost no American armed forces in Frankfurt.)
